Creating Your Amazon S3 Bucket
In this video, we’ll walk through the steps to create your Amazon S3 Bucket. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Navigate to S3
- Go to S3 in your AWS console.
- Click the Create a Bucket button.
Step 2: Configure Your Bucket
- Please ensure you are in the North Virginia Region to work with your already generated SSL certificate.
- Enter your bucket name, using your domain name without any prefixes (no "www" or "https").
- This will keep your setup organized.
- Make the bucket publicly accessible.
- Uncheck the Block Public Access button.
- Confirm this action by checking the acknowledgment box that appears.
Step 3: Finalize Bucket Settings
- Scroll down and leave SSE-S3 as-is.
- Disable the Bucket Key option.
- No further changes are needed on this page.
- Click Create Bucket.
Step 4: Update Bucket Permissions
- After the bucket is created, click into the bucket and navigate to Permissions.
- Scroll down to the Bucket Policy section and click Edit.
- Locate your ARN (Amazon Resource Name) displayed above the policy box.
- Copy the ARN and paste it into the bucket policy provided in your Google Doc.
- Ensure you include the trailing slash and asterisk when pasting the ARN.
- Copy the complete policy from your Google Doc.
- Paste it into the Policy box in the S3 screen and click Save Changes.
Step 5: Enable Static Website Hosting
- Navigate to Properties.
- Scroll down to Static Website Hosting and click Edit.
- Enable static website hosting.
- Enter index.html and error.html in their respective fields as suggested text, then click Save Changes.
Step 6: Upload Your Files
- Navigate to the Objects tab.
- Click Upload and select the index.html and error.html files saved on your desktop.
- Upload the files to your bucket.
Your S3 Bucket setup is now complete.
