Adding Two More CNAME Records to Your DNS

In this lesson, we’ll add two more CNAME records to your DNS. Let’s get started.

Step 1: Copy Your CloudFront Distribution Domain Name

  • Open your Google Doc and copy your CloudFront Distribution Domain Name that you recorded earlier.

Step 2: Add the First CNAME Record

  • Go to your DNS Manager (in this example, we’re using Namecheap).
  • Click Add New Record and select CNAME.
  • Enter an @ sign in the host field, then paste the CloudFront distribution domain you just copied into the value field, removing the https://.
  • Click the checkmark to save the record.

Step 3: Add the Second CNAME Record

  • Click Add New Record again and select CNAME.
  • In the Host field, enter www.
  • In the Value field, type your domain name (e.g., example.com).
  • Click the checkmark to save the record.

Step 4: Allow Time for Propagation

  • Your DNS records now need time to propagate.
  • Most of the time, this will take under 10 minutes, but depending on your registrar, it could take up to 48 hours.

That concludes this lesson.

In the next lesson, we’ll upload your first card and confirm that everything is working as expected. Please proceed to the next lesson now.
